Arbor Day Specialty Coffee
Frequently Asked Questions
Tips for storing and brewing Arbor Day Coffee.
- How long is the coffee good in the package?
- Your unopened package has no oxygen in it; oxygen is what makes coffee go stale. The package should be left unopened until ready for use. In theory, the package is good for several months, but we recommend buying coffee on a regular basis—then you’ll never run out but also do not have a large supply. Treat it the way you would your purchase of bread.
- Once I have opened the package, how should I store it?
- Once opened, the coffee should be stored in an airtight container. We recommend not putting it in the refrigerator or freezer. If you do, you should not open the airtight container until it comes back to room temperature.
- What kind of water should I use?
- Coffee is 98 percent water so it is a key part of a good cup of coffee. Water that has gone through a filtering system (like a Brita system) is ideal for making coffee. Never use distilled water or tap water.
- How do I know how much coffee to use for brewing?
- Most coffee makers talk in terms of cups, which can be misleading. Take your carafe and determine how many ounces of water it will hold. A good measure is to use one scoop (coffee scoop) of coffee for every six ounces of water as a starting point. You can then adjust the coffee up or down to your taste.
- How fresh is my coffee?
- Your order is shipped within 48 hours of roasting.
