Enterprise Rent-A-Car Biographies
Jo Ann Taylor Kindle
President,
Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is the charitable arm of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America’s largest rental car company. As president of the Foundation, Jo Ann Taylor Kindle is responsible for the allocation of millions of dollars in charitable contributions to hundreds of organizations each year. Funded by contributions from Enterprise operations, the Foundation provides financial assistance to recognized charities and community functions supported by Enterprise employees and customers.
Kindle has had a life-long involvement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the company her father, Jack Taylor, founded in 1957 in the basement of a Cadillac dealership. After graduating from the University of Denver with a B.A. in 1972, she took a job as an assistant buyer in St. Louis at Famous-Barr, a division of the former May Department Stores (now Federated), where she worked until 1974. Kindle officially joined the Enterprise team and served as office manager of a St. Louis location until 1977. Kindle then left her post at the company to raise her two children, and returned to Enterprise to head the Foundation in 1994.
In her role as Foundation President, Kindle oversees a Board of Trustees made up of corporate officers and general managers and is the driving force in the Foundation’s heavy involvement in charities nationwide. The board meets several times a year to consider thousands of requests from those seeking charitable contributions.
In addition to her work with the Foundation, Kindle is extremely active in the St. Louis community. Currently, she serves as a Trustee for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and a Trustee for the St. Louis Zoo. She is a past Trustee of the John Burroughs School and the Girl Scouts of Greater St. Louis and has served as chairman of several organizations, including the Rossman School Capital Campaign; Potpourri, a major fundraising event for John Burroughs school; and the Summer Opportunity Fair, a program for area high school students to provide activities for the students during the summer months.
